Streaming companies like Netflix, Hulu and Apple TV have been producing original series and movies yet these never see a physical media release. Understandably why. They want you to subscribe monthly to the service to see these shows.
Well, now in huge news Apple TV's original series Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way has been released on 4K UltraHD. Let's take a look at what this series is like in 4k and the bonus features of this 8-disc set.
Synopsis: In a bitter divorce settlement from her husband, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) becomes the new owner of AFC Richmond, a struggling Premier League football team. Her first order of business is to fire the team's current manager and replace him with a small-time American football coach, Theodore "Ted" Lasso (Jason Sudeikis). Ted and assistant Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) cross the pond to manage the team. Richmond is about to change the way they do things. From now on, it's the Lasso way.
While this show is about a football coach Ted Lasso transitioning to coach soccer. The show has little to do with the sport. It focuses more on the lives of the owner of AFC Richmond soccer team and their new coach and the lives of people around them.
The show is a nice mixture of comedy and drama. The characters are truly unforgettable. But it should be noted that this is a series for mature audiences only. There are tons of sexual references, lots of profanity and some things that could be deemed offensive to some viewers. So, viewer beware.
These episodes have been transferred to 4K in 2160p and is presented in widescreen format. The audio track is an English Dolby Digital 5.1. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These episodes look crisp and clean with no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. But one of the biggest disappointments with this set is there is absolutely zero bonus features. There are no audio commentaries, interviews, featurettes, gag reels... nothing.
Now even though there is no bonus features this is still a huge deal for physical media fans. To see an Apple TV series come to home video in 4k. It makes me wonder if other series might be on the way. I have a couple of streaming series I would love to see get home video release. Only time will tell.
If you enjoyed the series Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way. Why continue to stream it... own it. And to have it on 4K UltraHD is a great way to do it! Head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy today!
