Locked (2025) DVD Review – Thriller featuring the legendary Anthony Hopkins

At the time of this review we are rapidly approaching Halloween season. This is the perfect time to watch scary cinema. Whether it is the classic Universal Monster movies, the 80s slasher or the new horror films. Truth is film fans love their horror.

One film I love to watch is Silence of the Lambs Anthony Hopkins performance in that film is simply chilling. Well, he recently starred in a new horror film entitled Locked. And it is now on DVD just in time for your Halloween viewing!

Synopsis: From producer Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell) comes this pulse-pounding horror-thriller. A petty thief (Bill Skarsgård) breaks into a state-of-the-art SUV, only to find himself trapped inside. Controlled remotely by its vengeful owner (Anthony Hopkins), the vehicle becomes a deadly prison, hurtling him into a high-speed battle for survival.

As I wrote earlier Anthony Hopkins is chilling as Hannibal Lecter, well in this film he is completely unhinged. The less you see of him the more terrifying seems. Bill Skarsgård does a wonderful job as a panicked man just trying to survive. The film is a thrill ride but defiantly lacks the depth to become a classic.

Locked has been transferred to DVD in widescreen format. The audio is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital. And there is English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Now he transfers is adequate for standard definition viewing, but it is nothing to write home about.

One of my favorite parts of physical media is the bonus features. Well, I am sad to report this is a bare bones release. There is not an audio commentary, interviews not even a trailer found on this disc. That is a big disappointment for me.

If you enjoy the films of director David Yarovesky films like Brightburn and Nightbooks, well, Locked is a enjoyable thriller even with its flaws. If you would like to own a copy of this film it is available for purchase on Amazon

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the DVD of Locked receives......
