La Femme Nikita: The Complete Series DVD Review – Classic ’90s Espionage Thriller

In 1990 Luc Besson directed a action thriller entitled Le Femme Nikita or basically known as Nikita. Anne Parillaud played the convicted felon Nikita who instead of going to jail; is given a new identity and trained, as a top-secret spy/assassin.

After the success of the film and the 1993 remake entitled "Point of No Return", in 1997 USA Network brought the world a TV Version of Nikita. Now Warner Brothers have decided to bring the complete series to DVD for Physical media fans.

Synopsis: Framed for murder, Nikita is forced into a covert life with Section One, a secret organization that takes on global threats with deadly precision. As she rises through the ranks, her loyalty is tested by betrayal, hidden agendas, and a complicated bond with her trainer, Michael. Across five gripping seasons, Nikita fights to reclaim her freedom as the line between right and wrong blurs.

Now the TV differs from the original film. In the series Nikita is not a killer and drug user. In the series she is just a homeless young woman in the wrong place at the wrong time. Peta Wilson is simply amazing in this series. She is so believable as the spy/assassin Nikita. The show was dark, brooding and an exciting ride all the way through the entire 5 seasons. 

All 5 season a total of 96 action-packed episodes is spread across 27 DVD discs. These episodes are presented in their original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English 2.0. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Warner Brothers did a wonderfully job transferring these episodes to DVD. They are crisp and clean there is no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. The colors are bright and vibrant. But great looking transferred is not all that this release has going for it. They added some cool bonus features take a look at what is included.

With not only near 100 episodes, but the inclusion of the making of featurettes, commentaries deleted scenes and ultra fun gag reels. These bonus features take this entertaining DVD set and make this physical media release so much better.
