The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) 4k UltraHD/Blu-ray Review

Shane Black is an American Screenwriter. He is responsible for writing such films as Lethal Weapon, The Monster Squad, Last Action Hero, Kiss, Kiss Bang and Iron Man 3. But in 1996 he wrote the screenplay for the action thriller The Long Kiss Goodnight. As this film is coming upon its 30th anniversary Arrow Video has decided to give this cult classic a super deluxe 4K/Blu-ray edition.

Synopsis: Eight years ago, Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) washed up on a beach, pregnant, with no memory. Now she's a school teacher living an idyllic small town life with a daughter and boyfriend who love her. She's almost given up on ever finding out about the life she used to lead, until an accident awakens hidden memories and her past comes back with all guns blazing. With the help of low rent private eye Mitch Henessey (Samuel L. Jackson) Samantha must uncover who she was and why so many people want her dead before it kills them both.

The Long Kiss Goodnight is an action-packed thrill ride. Featuring a tremendous script and great direction by Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea). It has wonderful performances by Geena Davis (Beetlejuice) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction). 

Arrow Video has transferred The Long Kiss Goodnight to 4K in 2160p HEVC w/HDR and is presented in 2.39.1 aspect ratio. The audio options are an English Dolby Atmos, English 2.0 DTS-HDMA, English 5.1 DTS-HDMA. There is also the option for English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

For this release Arrow Video has performed a new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. The restoration looks phenomenal. There were no signs of damage that I could see when screening this release. Take a look at what is included in this deluxe 4K/Blu-ray set!
