Juror #2 (2024) Blu-ray Review

Clint Eastwood made his mark in cinema in front of the camera, but like many actors he turned to being behind the camera sitting in the director's chair. He directed some great films like Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter, Mystic River, The Outlaw Josie Wales and Play Misty for me just to name some.

But even in his advanced years Eastwood is still directing films. He won an Oscar for best director for Million Dollar Baby, He made Letters from Iwo Jima and Grand Torino. Even at the age of 94 in 2024 he brought the world a wonderful courtroom drama entitled "Juror #2" And physical media fans can now rejoice as this film is now on Blu-ray!

Synopsis: Family man Justin Kemp (Nicholas Hoult) finds himself serving as a juror in a high-profile murder trial. But the dilemma is more than just a man's live in the balance. Justin finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict or free the accused killer.

Juror #2 is a wonderfully crafted story with great dialogue. Nicholas Hoult brings a sensitivity to Justin Kemp. Everyone in this cast is really good. The stand outs have to be Toni Collette, J. K. Simmons, Zoey Deutch and Kiefer Sutherland in a small but important role. As the film progressed there is great character development really makes you care what happens to this people. 

There have been a lot of great courtroom movies in cinema history. 12 Angry Men, Judgement at Nuremberg, Inherit the Wind, My Cousin Vinny and Philadelphia. Put Juror #2 right in the amongst them. Even included the less than satisfying conclusion.

Juror #2 has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p. There are two audio tracks to choose from both English track. There is a Dolby Atmos-TrueHD and a Dolby Digital 5.1. There are also French, Italian, Spanish language dubs. There is the option for English descriptive audio, And subtitles in English, Italian, Netherlands, French and Spanish. 

This Blu-ray transfer is crisp and clean with no digital artifacts whatsoever. But for on disc bonus features. There is none. That is a shame. I would have loved to see and interview with director Clint Eastwood or a making of featurette. The only bonus included in this release is a digital copy of the film that can be redeemed through Movies Anywhere or other digital redemption platforms.

I thoroughly enjoyed Juror #2. I think it is a great little courtroom drama and it is a crime that it was snubbed by the Academy this year. Not a nomination for Best Picture or Best Director, that is a huge fuax pas in my humble opinion.

Clint Eastwood is 94 and still making films this good, God bless him and I hope he continues. I hope if I make it to 94 I am as active and my mind is as sharp as his is.
