In this generations TV and movies is all about remakes and reboots. So, twenty years after Walker Texas Ranger ended its run on TV, the CW network hired Anne Fricke to develop a new version of Walker. And who better to lead this series than that of a star of one of the network's greatest shows Supernatural. Of course we are talking about Jared Padalecki.
Now Paramount Home Entertainment and CBS DVD has released The Complete Series of Walker has now been releases on DVD. So that physical media fans can enjoy this series whenever they choose to.
Synopsis: Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki, TV's Supernatural), a widower and father of two who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years. There he'll attempt to reconnect and navigate clashes with his family and new colleagues. Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers' history), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death.
Walker the reboot series starts off a little slow, but it grows as series moves along. Jared Padalecki isa fine lead in this series. But make no mistake about it. The only similarities between this Walker and Chuck Norris' Walker are the name only.
Walker's run on the CW network was a very short 4 Seasons and only 69 episodes. Season 1 has 18 episodes, Season 2 is a little longer with 20 episodes, Season 3 is back to 18 episodes and finally Season 4 is the shortest with just 13 episodes.
This DVD box set is including 4 seasons spread across 17 discs. The episodes are presented in widescreen format. The audio track is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital track. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The DVD transfer of these episodes look and sound crisp and clean. There are no digital artifacts or audio anomalies found on these episodes. In addition to all 69 episodes this DVD set includes bonus features of featurettes; Walker: Tragic Hero, The Edge if the Coin, Deleted Scenes, Gag Reels.
Now while many may say Walker is nothing like Chuck Norris' show. That is probably a good thing. Cause if Jared Padalecki had tried to be Chuck's Walker it would have failed miserably. Walker the reboot series is a nice little series. Defiantly worth checking out!
