The Only Way (1970) Blu-ray Review

George Santayana once said, "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." That is why it is so good to teach the history of hatred. Adolph Hitler led a force of hate against a race of people. But there were brave people who stood up in the face of his reign of terror.

Many films have been produced over the years depicting the bravery of the resistance against the Nazis. In 1970 Bent Christensen (Harry and the Butler) co-wrote the script and directed Jane Seymour in "The Only Way". Now VCI Entertainment and MVD Visual are releasing this classic Nazi resistance film on Blu-ray.

In April 1940, the armies of Nazi Germany invaded Denmark. The Danish government promised peaceful cooperation on the condition that Denmark s Jews remain free. The Nazi s agreed. In October 1943, the agreement was broken…This is the true and magnificent saga of Denmark s valorous actions to save Danish Jews from Nazi extermination at peril of death!

The Only Way is not an action-packed film like The Great Escape. It is more of a drama like Schindler's List. It explores the lives of people who lived the tyranny of Nazi life. Jane Seymour shines in this film. In fact everyone is great! This is an extremely interesting story of bravery in the face of death. It truly is a must watch.

MVD Visual has transferred The Only Way to Blu-ray in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The Audio is a Dolby AC3. Finally, there is English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The film has been restored in 4K and looks stunning! There is no signs of damage. The picture is crisp and clean. It looks remarkable in HD.

Now in addition to a simply gorgeous looking restoration and transfer. MVD Visual added a very interesting 1946 documentary entitled "Reunion" directed by Henri Cartier-Bresson. It is the story of the liberated prisoners of the Nazi concentration camps.

The Only Way is a dramatic presentation. Then add in the addition of the classic documentary of liberated prisoner with reunion. This is a win, win all the way. VCI Entertainment and MVD Visual really put together a release here that deserves a place right alongside such films as Schindler's List and The Great Escape.
