George and Tammy (2022) DVD Review

There are many legends in the halls of Country Music. But there are two names that are linked together, and those names are George Jones and Tammy Wynette. On December 4th, 2022 a limited series entitled "George and Tammy" would air on Showtime.

For physical media fans there is nothing like holding the DVD or Blu-ray in your hand and putting the disc in the drive loading up the menu and pressing play. Well, Viacom International are giving the physical media fans what we crave by releasing this mini-series event on made-on-demand DVD. 

George & Tammy chronicles the country music power couple, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, whose complicated-but-enduring relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time. Starring Oscar winner Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Revolutionary Road), George and Tammy's legacy, both musically and romantically, remains one of the greatest love stories ever told.

One of the greatest Hollywood dramas of all time was A Star Is Born. The real-life account of George Jones and Tammy Wynette is truly A Star is Born in real life. The series is a well written and well-acted series. Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastin have real on-screen chemistry and bring this country music legends back to our screens in 2023.

Now it is good to note this series is rated MA for Mature Audiences. There is a good amount of profanity, violence, sexual content and alcohol abuse. So, viewers should be aware of this before going into this series. So if you are offended by these things you should stay away from this series.

The six-episode series is spread across two DVD discs. There are episodes per disc. These episodes are presented in widescreen format and the audio is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

I have always enjoyed biographical films and this new mini-series was very enjoyable one. Two have this complete mini-series event on DVD is enough for me to call this a must own set. But when you add in the above bonus features. It makes this cool release even better.
