Review: Bitcoin (2020) Mill Creek Entertainment DVD

Bitcoin Mill Creek Entertainment DVD
A cryptocurrency is a digital asset that can circulate without the authority of a bank or government. There are many forms of cryptocurrency, but the most popular by far is bitcoin. Writer and director Matt Osterman decided to weave a thrilling tale with cryptocurrency as the focal point.

There have been many heist films over the years. Some good, some not so good. Some of the most notable are The Thomas Crown Affair, Bonnie and Clyde, or The Fast and the Furious film series. Matt Osterman's Bitcoin is being released on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment.

Lew Harbour (Emmy® - Award winner Jeremy Davies) has a good problem for a bad person. He just received the biggest score of his life and needs to hide the money ASAP. Enter reformed criminal and current Bitcoin miner, Ty Adams (Noah Anderson). Ty initially refuses his offer to launder the money, but Lew’s guarded girlfriend Jess (Ella Ma) engineers the situation to get him on board. When the hard drive containing the keys to the $800k in Bitcoin goes missing, Lew and his deadly partner (Bruce Bohne) suspect Ty of double-crossing them. As the value of Bitcoin skyrockets, the pressure is on, forcing Ty to turn to a network of thieves (Tom Cavanagh) and dirty cops (Frank Whaley) in order to get out alive.

Bitcoin is not a big blockbuster release. It is a lower budget film, but takes advantage of every bit of it's budget and comes off as a fairly exciting little feature. The Cast is impressive including,  Jeremy Davies (Twister, TV’s “Lost,” Saving Private Ryan), Tom Cavanagh (TV’s “Scrubs,” “Ed,” “The Flash”), Noah Anderson (Realm of Shadows, Broken Cross), Ella Ma (Bridge and Tunnel), and Frank Whaley (Field of Dreams, Pulp Fiction), and is directed by Matt Osterman (400 Days, Hover).

It is good to not there is a good amount of violence, drug use and profanity. So this is by no means a film for the entire family. This is a film for mature audiences only! I must be honest I was not a fans of the profanity and drug use. But I am a fan of Tom Cavanagh. I have been impressed with him ever since seeing his ability to play different characters seamlessly in the CW TV series The Flash. And in this film is another amazing performance.

Mill Creek Entertainment has transferred this film to DVD in anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1 aspect ratio the audio is Dolby digital and finally there is a option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The transfer looks amazing. Now for bonus features. There is the trailer and 3 deleted scenes. For me any kind of bonus feature is a definite plus.

Right Now as a special promotion for this physical media release the producers of the film have set up a Bitcoin sweepstakes. You can get more detail and enter the giveaway sweepstake at https://www.bitconmovie.com.

Now while I was not a huge fan of this film it no doubt will have it's fans. I can't deny the fact that Mill Creek Entertainment put a lot of work into this release to make it something special. I can see this film opening the floodgates for a whole new style of heist film dealing with the cryptocurrency. If course only time will tell!

So if you love heist movies than Mill Creek Entertainment's DVD release of Bitcoin would make a nice addition to your collection. But average movie fans may not be as into this one. If you are interested head over to Deep Discount and order your copy today.
