The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave (2000) {KL Studio Classics Blu-ray Review}

Super Dave Osbourne was a character created by Bob Einstein. Dave was an accomplished stuntman who would perform stunts and ever single time get hurt. Super Dave would make his TV debut on The John Byner Comedy Hour in 1972.

After his debut he would gain popularity and make guest appearances on shows such was The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, In Living Color, WWE Monday Night Raw, TNA Impact! and so much more. He would even get his own show Super Dave or also known as The Super Dave Osbourne Show.

Than in 2000 MGM gave Super Dave a chance to shine in a full length feature film of his own. Now 22 Years later (has it really been that many years?), Kino Lorber is giving this cult comedy classic a chance to shine on Blu-ray.

After Super Dave suffers a near-fatal accident he decides to retire, but soon discovers that he’s been bankrupted by his swindling manager and foreclosed on by the bank. Than he finds out single Mom Sandy (Gia Carides, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and her ailing young son, Timmy, who needs an expensive heart operation. This is just the motivation Super Dave needs to shuns retirement to raise the money. Even if it means facing off against his arch enemy, Gil (Dan Hedaya, The Crew), a slimy sports promoter, to once again prove that he’s not only the most outrageous daredevil…he’s also the most accident-prone!

If you have seen Super Dave's comedic stunts than you know right what your in for with this release. It is absurd and totally hilarious. I always found Super Dave's appearances on shows hilarious and this is just one crazy stunt after another.

The Extreme Adventures Of Super Dave makes its Blu-Ray debut thank to Kino Lorber. The film is presented in with a 1080p transfer in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The soundtrack is a lossless DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This appears to be taken from an older master, it doesn't appear to be a new restoration here, but this transfer is still pretty great. The colors are bright and vibrant and the picture is crisp and clean. There is little to no damage found in this print. So that is a huge plus.

Now Kino Lorber added a couple of cool bonuses in this Blu-ray take a look at what is included.

* Audio Commentary: Historian/Filmmaker Daniel Kremer talks with the director Peter MacDonald. The insight brought to the audio commentary is amazing. It is a must listen

* Trailers: The Extreme Adventures Of Super Dave, The Wrong Guy, The Crew, The Ice Harvest and Stretch.

So The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave is slapstick comedy. It will appeal to some audiences but others will find the comedy childish! Me personally I enjoyed the crazy off the wall humor of Super Dave even 0ver 20 years later.

So if you enjoy Super Dave as much I do I can not recommend this Blu-ray enough. Head over to Amazon and order your copy of The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave before they are gone.
