They Went That-A-Way and That-A-Way (1978) {KL Studio Classics Blu-ray Review}

No matter if it was the oldest man on The Carol Burnett show, Dorf from the numerous videos of  Ensign Charles Parker on McHale's Navy. If you remember the famed hilarious 'dentist' sketch with Harvey Korman or the films alongside the legendary Don Knotts, one thing is for sure we all have seen the great Tim Conway.

In 1978 Time Conway was joined by another comedian Chuck McCann (CHOMPS, Foul Play, Ladybugs) for an off the wall comedy that Tim Conway is so known for. We are talking about the prison comedy They went that-a-way and that-a-way. Now this amazing film is getting a Blu-ray release that to the great folks at Kino Lorber

Two dipstick deputies Dewey (Conway) and Wallace (McCann) how are ordered by the governor to go undercover in a maximum-security prison, all in hope of finding the where-a-bouts of stolen money.  But when the unexpectedly dies, they are stuck in prison. Their only hope is to escape.

The screen play was written by Tim Conway himself and the film was co-directed by Stuart E. McGowan and Edward Montagne. This film is filled with hilarious antics and crazy car chases. It is a non-stop laugh riot. There is even a version of the hilarious 'dentist' sketch, although admittedly the sketch can't compare to the original from The Carol Burnett Show. While maybe not Tim Conway's best film, I thoroughly enjoy it!

Along with Conway and McCann the film has some amazing Co-stars including Reni Santoni (Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid), Richard Kiel (Moonraker), Lenny Montana (The Godfather), Dub Taylor (Gator), Grace Zabriskie (TV’s Twin Peaks) and Sonny Shroyer & Ben Jones (Enos & Cooter of TV’s The Dukes of Hazzard).

Kino Lorber has transferred this cult comedy classic to Blu-ray in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The soundtrack is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. In addition to this there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This transfer is really nice. When I compare it to the DVD release this is a nice upgrade. The colors are vibrant. The pictures is crisp and the audio is clear. In addition to an absolutely stunning looking movie transfer, KL Studio Classics added the theatrical trailer and not one but 2 TV spots.
