In the 1990s sci-fi TV series were big business. From Star Trek The Next Generation, Sliders, Quantum Leap Farscape, and so many more.
In 1993 Roy Scheider known for his iconic roles in Jaws 1 and 2 was cast for an aquatic sci-fi TV series entitled SeaQuest of SeaQuest DSV.
Now for years and years physical media TV fans have been dreaming of this series coming to Blu-ray. Well, thanks to the great folks at Mill Creek Entertainment those dreams have finally come true with the complete series on Blu-ray.
The seaQuest DSV (deep submergence vehicle) a sophisticated submarine. It and its crew protects underwater colonies in the future world of 2018, when humankind has nearly exhausted the Earth's natural resources and turned to exploring the ocean.
The series was a groundbreaking one. It truly was an exciting and dramatic series. Joining Roy Scheider as series regulars were Jonathan Brandis (It, Ladybugs, Sidekicks, The Never Ending Story II), Ted Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-man, Darkman), Marco Sanchez (Sons of Thunder), Peter DeLuise (R.L. Stine Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls) and Michael DeLuise (Wayne's World, Encino Man).
The series could also boast of a whos who of guest stars, including, William Shatner, Mark Hamill, Michael York, Kent McCord, Dom DeLuise, Shelley Hack and Charlton Heston. Even the pilot movie was directed by Irvin Kershner (Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back). Interesting side not this would be the final directing credit.
Now as good as the series is it did go through a lot of changes during it's time. That is probably why the series didn't last as long as it should have.

Season 3 consisted of 13 episodes and this season took the show so far from the show's original premise. Seeing the departure of Roy Scheider as the lead, being replaced by Michael Ironside.
