Martin Short is a comedy icon. From his time on SCTV and Saturday Night Live to his movies and even his show Prime Time Glick. Martin Short entertained and continues to entertain people even in his later years.

So many comedy films were produced over the years. Now the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment have release a double shot of Short comedy on Blu-ray, with their newest release. A Martin Short Double Feature Cross my Heart and Pure Luck.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An OK way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

Cross My Heart (1987) David (Martin Short) just lost his job and considers canceling his date with Kathy (Annette O'Toole) until his friend Bruce (Paul Reiser) convinces him to go. Kathy, meanwhile, tells her friend Nancy (Joanna Kerns) that she's worried how David will react when he finds out she has a daughter. But they proceed with the date, charming one another with their honesty. **

Pure Luck (1991) Valerie Highsmith (Sheila Kelley) is known for being unlucky so when she goes missing in Mexico, no one is surprised. When veteran investigator Raymond Campanella (Danny Glover) can't find her, an executive at Valerie's father's company has the "brilliant" idea to send accident prone Eugene Proctor (Martin Short) from accounting along with Raymond. ***

This is a really nice little double feature. The off the wall crazy comedy Pure Lucky and the more romantic comedy Cross My Heart. It is good to not that these are not family friendly comedy features. Pure Luck a little more family friendly. There is some profanity and a bit of violence. But Cross My Heart is defiantly for adults. There is adult language and sexual situations.

Both films are housed on one Blu-ray disc. With a total running time of just over 3 hours there is more than enough room for these two films with no Blu-ray artifacts. Both films are presented in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Cross my heart has audio soundtrack of a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Pure Luck is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. Both films feature English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

When watching these films I was pretty impressed with the quality. Even with two full length feature films on one Blu-ray the picture quality is crisp and the audio is clear. There is no signs of damage to the prints in these transfers. While of the two Cross My Heart's transfer looks the best, it's pretty cool to see Pure Luck making it's Blu-ray debut.
