Matt Dillion is probably best known for his films in The Outsiders (1983), The Flamingo Kid (1984) and There's Something About Mary (1998). But very early in his career he starred alongside Cindy Fisher in the romantic drama Liar's Moon.
MVD Rewind Collection have released some amazing releases over the years. My favorites being The Return of Swamp Thing and Double Dragon. These releases are always super cool. Now for Liar's Moon's 40th anniversary this film get a MVD Rewind Blu-ray release.
Jack Duncan (Matt Dillion), is an athletic, hardworking boy from the small town of Noble, Texas. Jack is loving life having fun with the local boys, until he meets Ginny Peterson (Cindy Fisher, The Blues Brothers), beyond being beautiful she just happens to be the towns wealthiest young lady. These two could be more opposite, but as the old saying goes opposites attract.
Even though the two have been forbidden to see each other, the two fall hopelessly in love. Jack and Ginny decide to runaway from the comfort of their hometown and elope. Hoping to find happiness far away. Ginny's dad hires private detective Roy Logan (Richard Moll, TV's Night Court) to track down the teenagers and bring her back home.

Liar's Moon is an emotional at time heart wrenching drama. Lair's Moon is a soap opera on film, without a doubt. Matt Dillion and Cindy Fisher have a real chemistry together. David Fisher directs a film that transports the viewer right into the lives of a small town people. It is a snapshot of a simpler time.
As a special note for viewers there is a lot of adult themes, brief nudity and some mild language. So I would call this film defiantly for adults. But parents should watch this film first before letting older teens watch this film.
Now not only is this one of the first films of Matt Dillion but this it also is one of the final film roles of Academy Award Winning actor Broderick Crawford. He won a best actor Oscar for 1949's All the King's Men.
Liar's Moon has been transferred in High Definition 1080p in it's original 1:78.1 aspect ratio. The soundtrack is a LPCM 2.0 Stereo. There is additionally the option for English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The transfer of this film to Blu-ray is something special. The picture is crisp and the audio is clear. There is no signs of damage to this print. It truly would be a welcomed addition to anyone's 80s movie collection.
