Jumanji The Complete Series (DVD Review)

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Long before Dwayne Johnson was in the adventure of the Jumanji, there was the iconic comedian Robin Williams. In the 90s he brought audiences on the adventure of a lifetime. Movie fans marveled at the adventure and it was so much fun that kids wanted more.

So in 1996, an animated series was produced by Adelaide Productions and premiered on UPN Kids block on UPN for the first two season and than the third seasons was syndicated by Bohbot Kids Network. A total of 3 Seasons were produced.

The show followed the adventures of two children, Judy and Peter Shepherd, who discover a mysterious and magical board game called Jumanji. Once they start playing, their lives will never be the same. Sucked into a swirling vortex and emerging in the parallel jungle universe of Jumanji, they meet a fellow traveler who has been trapped in the game for over 20 years. Navigating two worlds - their hometown real world and the disturbing fantasy jungle of the board game - as they try to help Alan break the spell, Judy, Peter and Alan encounter thrills and adventures that also help them learn important lessons about life.

The series is pretty good. The animation is a classic type of animation. I am not a fan of cgi animation. Thankfully this is not we see. Than finally the voice acting is great.,

A few years ago Mill Creek Entertainment released all three seasons of Jumanji the Animated Series on a 3 disc DVD set.

Now as I look at these episodes on DVD 13 to 14 episodes on a disc is a bit much! The quality of the animation is passable. It does suffer a bit from the amount of episodes on each disc. But I have to say to own this series on DVD for physical media fans is a must.

So if you are a fan of 90s animated series as much as I am this is a nice release. While the quality could be better if they would have made this a 4 disc set instead of a 3 disc set, it is still a nice release.
