American Zombieland

Mockbuster is a term for an independent film that's intention is exploiting the publicity of another major motion picture with a similar title or subject. Mockbusters have a very dedicated audience. One such film is American Zombieland.

The good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment wanting to serve all movie and tv fans have given this mockbuster American Zombieland a DVD release.

In a small little town in Texas
Sam (Dave Mussen) dreams of being a successful filmmaker. But his films are terrible, but that is all about to change when he gets his biggest break ever. When a zombie apocalypse begins he sees opportunity knocking to make a real life zombie movie. With all the comical twists and turns along the way.

George Bennett co-wrote and directed this film and idea is good one. There is a lot of political humor in this film. The film is takes shots at the media, liberals and conservatives. Thankfully no one gets a pass here. Otherwise it would come off as a hit on one group of people.

While the film was ok, in my opinion, this is not the strongest of the films released ITN studios. I know there are people that will love this style of film. And as far as the cast goes everyone puts their all into there roles. But sometimes a movie is just not for everyone and this one will have it's audience. This one just wasn't for me.

I should throw this out there this is a very adult film. The CGI gore is in your face, the profanity is heavy at times and there is some nudity. So this is not for younger audiences.
B-movie fans and fans of Syfy channel movies like Sharknado will love to laugh along at the antics of the group as they make their movie.

Now for the DVD release. The film has been transferred in widescreen format in 1.78:1 and in Dolby Digital. The quality looks and sounds really good. As for bonus feature there is a trailer of the film added to the film. That is it! There is no other feature that is a bit of a shame.

In the final analysis, I think Mill Creek Entertainment should be applauded for giving every film fan a chance to enjoy home media. Mill Creek Entertainment doesn't just cater to Classic movie fans, TV fans, Kaiju fans. They are giving every fan of entertainment something to enjoy. I give them so much credit for that.
