Gracie's Choice (2004) {DVD Review}

Made-For-TV movies! People either love them or hate them. Me personally for the most part I really enjoy the made-for-TV movies. Well, Kirsten Bell before she was The Lifegaurd, or a Bad Mom, Before she went on a Couple's Retreat, even before she was Veronica Mars, she starred in the TV Movie Gracie's Choice.

Now the fine folks at Mill Creek Entertainment is releasing this earlier Kirsten Bell TV movie on DVD and Digital. But is it worth dropping your hard earned money on this release. Well, that is what we are hear for. Let's take a look at this DVD / Digital offering.
The film is based on a true story and follows the life of Gracie Thompson a 16-year-old girl. Her mother living a life of self-destruction. After the police arrest her mother, Gracie does whatever she can to try to keep her family together. Their mother comes and goes in and out of their lives, like the wind. Gracie tries to be the caregiver and guardian to her brothers while putting herself through school and working part time.

Most TV movies get a bad wrap because most people think the acting is horrendous. Nothing could be father from the truth with Gracie's choice. Kirsten Bell is remarkable in her role as Gracie and with supporting cast as Diane Ladd and Anne Heche this is one great preformed TV Movie.

The story was a moving, touching, heartbreaking tale. The film moved fast so there was no time to get bored with this movie. The direction of Peter Werner was amazing as well! I have to say I was very impressed with this TV movie.

Now for the DVD release. The film is presented in the original full screen and in Dolby Digital 2.0 audio. There is no subtitles. It would have been nice to see English subtitles for the hearing impaired, but that is a minor complaint.

The transfer of this TV movies looks really good. The colors are vibrant and the darks are gritty when needed to be. The picture show little to no signs of grain or damage to the print. So this is an amazing looking print of this film.

So if your a fan of Kristen Bell or Lifetime and Hallmark movies, this one will be right up your alley! Head over to MillCreekEnt.com or Amazon.com and order your copy today!
