Classic Flix for many years now has been releasing restored long-forgotten films. In June 2019 the brought the classic TV fans, The official first season of Public Defender on DVD for the first time ever! You can read our review of that release here! Well, now it is time for Season 2 to get it's time to shine!
Public Defender was filmed by Hal Roach Studios and aired at 10 pm ET on Thursdays on CBS. It ran opposite to ABC's Kraft Television Theater and NBC's Lux Video Theatre.
Reed Hadley returns for a second season as Bart Matthews, a lawyer who defends the poor and others who cannot afford an attorney. The episodes were all their own unique stories. Season one was the equivalent of a half a season for the '50s. But Season 2 was a whole season giving us 43 episodes of dramatic tales.
For the second season Public Defender can boast of some amazing names in film and TV history that guest-starred including; Natalie Wood, Charles Bronson, Martha Hyer, Dennis Hopper, Hugh Beaumont, Hillary Brooke, Ted de Corsia, Dwayne Hickman, Mae Clarke, DeForest Kelley, Phyllis Coates, Douglass Dumbrille, Dick Foran, Virginia Gregg, Alan Hale, Jr., Percy Helton, Mike Mazurki, Denver Pyle, Lyle Talbot, Veda Ann Borg, Kenneth Tobey and Linda Stirling.

This season continues the great well written, acted and directed episodes filled with real human drama. Reed Hadley is remarkable as the lead character Bart Matthews. It's hard for me to imagine this series ended after just 2 seasons. It deserved a much longer run.
This show is presented in its original full screen 1.33:1 aspect ratio. These episodes are transferred from the original Hal Roach Studio Masters. I have to say these episodes look and sound better than any episodes I've ever seen! The picture is crisp and the sound is clear with no signs of hiss.
As for the packaging, the 5 DVDs are housed in a hard shell case. Each DVD has its own hub, no staking of discs here. And there is a companion booklet giving you a list of each episode with a synopsis for each disc.
As impressed as I was with the first season release. Classic Flix has continued the work and made another tremendous release. I have reviewed several releases for Classic Flix now, and I have to say that they put a lot of care and love into these releases. And for a classic film and TV fan like me, I really appreciate that!
So if you love those 50's TV shows as much as I do! I can not recommend this one enough! There is no other way to get this complete second season of this series on home video, so it is a must-own!
