Miami Vice Season 1 & 2

Reviewed By: Jason S. Lockard

In the 80's cop shows were all the rage and executive producer Micheal Mann set out to do something different and even groundbreaking. He did just that with Miami Vice. Now you can own the complete first two seasons of this show thanks to the fine folks at Mill Creek Entertainment.

Miami Vice was set in the seamy and steamy underworld of Miami. There we find Metro-Dade Police detectives James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, who work undercover to bust drug pusher and kingpins.

The great character actor Gregory Sierra (Barney Miller and Sanford and Son) starred in just four episodes of season one before requesting to be written off the show. The reason he didn't enjoy living in Miami where the show was shot.

The first season of this series is action packed and features amazing guest stars including; Bruce Willis (Die Hard), Ed O’Neill (TV’s Modern Family), Pam Grier (Jackie Brown), John Turturro (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction) Mark Linn-Baker (TV’s Perfect Strangers), Eartha Kitt (TV's Batman), Bruce McGill (TV's MacGyver), Little Richard (Rock 'N Roll Legend), David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum), Miles Davis (Jazz Legend), Clarence Williams III (TV's The Mod Squad), Dean Stockwell (TV's Quantum Leap), Phil Collins (Legendary musician), Bill Russell (NBA Legend), Frank Zappa (Legendary musician), Michael Bay (Transformers) and many more.

Along with the compelling stories and great action, another thing that makes this show stand out among the rest of the cop shows of it's time is the music. From the high energy theme by Jan Hammer, to the use of popular music from the 80s. This was a perfect beginning to a great series.

Each DVD Season set includes 4 discs and features all 22 season episodes in amazing audio and video quality. I never got to watch the series when it first was on because I was just a child so to see it now I understand why Time magazine called MIAMI VICE "TV's hottest and hippest cop show."

So if you are a fan of 80s TV, cops shows or Miami Vice, do yourself a favor and pick up Season One and Season Two of this TV series on DVD. Or you can pick up the whole series on DVD or Blu-ray. I highly recommend this series!
