The Identical

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Elvis Presley was the king of Rock & Roll. But he was more than that! He was a great gospel singer, and a pretty good little actor as well! Some people may not know that Elvis has a twin brother who did not live. The movie "The Identical" takes the idea switches it up and makes a movie all it's own.

The film takes place in the Great Depression. Identical twins are born to a poor couple! Realizing they can't afford to feed and properly care for twin they pray to God and He tells them to give one of they boys to an preacher and his wife who have miscarried yet again.

The boys separated the one Drexel Hemsley raised by the real parents becomes a wildly successful '50s rock star, while the other, Ryan Wade, struggles between his passion for music and pleasing his parents, who want him to become a preacher.

After years of trying to live up to his father's wished for him, Ryan launches his own music career -- performing the hits of Drexel Hemsley. During a near tragic event Ryan learns the truth about his real parents. Who does he react? Does it destroy his family? You'll have to see the film to find out!

I went into this film not expecting to much! So I wouldn't be to disappointed! I have to say I was presently surprised by this film. By no means is this a 4 star feature. At time the story jumps years at a time that can be hard to follow for some viewers.

The story a good and the music was awesome. Blake Rayne, who plays both brothers, has a great voice and does sound like Elvis. Seth Green is great in a small but pivotal role, Ashley Judd loving portrays the preachers wife Louise Wade, but the best was Ray Liotta as preacher Reece Wade.
