For some people Christmas isn’t Christmas without a good horror film. Well, a few years ago Image Entertainment released a Christmas bloodbath film entitled, A Christmas Horror Story starring Captain Kirk, William Shatner.
The film is a sort of anthology film. It featuring four tales interwoven into one bigger plot. DJ Dan (Shatner) is a radio DJ stuck pulling a long shift at a radio station during Christmas. During his broadcast a series of four stories are witnessed: A group of teenagers investigate a murder at a school. The second story deals with a couple that see something evil about their son. The third follows a greedy family that attempts to ingratiate themselves to a wealthy family member. The fourth is about a zombie outbreak at Santa’s workshop. All this come to one evil character Krampus who punishes misbehaved children during the Christmas season.
In this film like all anthology films some stories are better than others. As far as the direction goes it was executed well, by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban and Brett Sullivan. The special effects are believable. For me the best part was William Shatner as DJ Dan.
I am not a huge fan of gore, profanity and sexual content in films and A Christmas Horror Story film has a pretty good amount in it. It was a little much for me, but
Christmas horror fans will love this one.
The DVD features a beautiful transfer of the film and an added bonus feature is a behind the scenes featurette of Christmas horror story.
