S.W.A.T. The complete series (1975-76) {DVD Review}

In November of 2017 S.W.A.T. a TV series debuted on CBS, but this is not an original series! It is a reboot! The original series aired in 1975 and 1976 for 2 seasons. Now the fine folks at Mill Creek Entertainment have now released the entire series of this epic show on DVD.

In the 70s cop shows were all the rage! One such show was producer Aaron Spelling's "The Rookies". The show was such a success that they decided to do a spin off show entitled S.W.A.T (Special Weapons and Tactics).

When the police are in trouble they call S.W.A.T. In the series the location of events are never divulged. The series stars Steve Forrest as the unit's leader, Lt. "Hondo" Harrelson, Robert Urich as Officer Jim Street, Rod Perry as Sgt. David "Deacon" Kay, Mark Shera as Officer Dominic Luca, and James Coleman as Officer T.J. McCabe. Than there is the ultra hip opening theme was composed by Barry De Vorzon.

Some of the stand out episodes in this series include; The Bravo Enigma; The team must find an elusive assassin who is unaware that he is spreading a plague and could kill anyone he comes into contact with.   Dealers in Death; Local police are overwhelmed by a series of crimes committed using automatic weapons, So it is up to S.W.A.T. to discover the source of the weapons.  Time Bomb; After completing S.W.A.T. exercises at a movie studio, Street realizes that he left his beeper on the lot. So he and his girlfriend return to collect it, but they are trapped in the deserted studio by a  stuntman out for revenge. These are just 3 of the stand out episodes of this series, every episode is filled with great dramatic action.

This is a thrilling series but it is good to note this is a slightly violent (not gory) series! So this is not a series for the kids. But I'm sure mom, dad and the teenagers will love it! It gives us the watcher new respect for these brave people who put their live on the line!

This 6 DVD set includes both seasons of this series, all 37 fifty minute episodes. The audio and video quality of the episodes on these DVDs are great and the DVD menus are easy to navigate. This DVD set is housed in 5 flip able tray case. Very cool plus!
