Little Shop of Horrors (1960) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

Roger Corman films are cult classics and none more classic than Little Shop of Horrors a film that boasts of being one of the first films for Jack Nicholson. Well, I recently received a screener copy of Legend Films Blu-Ray release of this classic and when I finished viewing it my jaw dropped.

I think we all know the story of this horror comedy. Seymour works in Mushnick’s flower shop and he grows an exotic plant that he named Audrey Jr. (after his girlfriend), but Audrey Jr. has an insatiable appetite for blood and it’s up to Seymour to ‘feed him’. As the plant grows larger and hungrier, things start to get out of hand.

Now the cool thing about this Blu-ray release is that it includes the restored classic black & white version and the brand new colorized version of the film! I owned a version of this film on DVD and the audio was terrible to say the least, Legend Films release is absolutely perfect! I also want to give Legend Films a lot of credit for the colorization of this classic. Many film lovers are up in arms about the colorization of black and white films, but Legend Films does such a great job you can hardly tell this films is colorized. Than there is the bonus features a very funny commentary by Mike Nelson of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

If your a film fan that thinks black and white films should stay that way this is a beautifully restored copy of this film or if you want to see the colorized version this is the only place you can get it! So this Blu-ray is one in a million! I highly recommend you head over to www.LegendFilms.com or your local Blu-ray retailer and pick up a copy of Legend Films release Little Shop of Horrors in color!
