The Madison Season 1 (Blu-ray Review)

Yellowstone has been responsible for many new shows. This has led to one of the biggest franchises in television history. Plus, these spinoff series attract legendary stars to lend their acting talents to these shows.

The latest show in the Yellowstone Universe is The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russel. Now the first season of The Madison has arrived on home video on Blu-ray.

Synopsis: Manhattanite Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer) had never grasped the affinity that her entrepreneur husband Preston (Kurt Russell) felt for the small spread he'd maintained, and sojourned to often, in southwest Montana. Tragedy would drive her to uproot-with her nonplussed family-in the hopes that Big Sky country life could help her process grief.

The Madison takes its time in telling this story. But with the slow pacing, the series never really seems to gain real momentum. Now Michelle Pfeiffer really put on a performance, showing such an amazing range of emotion. Acting students can learn from just watching her in this series.

Taylor Sheridan is a prolific storyteller and his Yellowstone universe is amazing. But if I were to be honest, The Madison is probably the weakest of all the series. But that being said, it still is a nice watch.

All 6 Season 1 episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in widescreen format. The audio options are an English Dolby Atmos track and a French Dolby Digital 5.1 track. There is also an option for subtitles in English and French.

Disc One: Pilot / Let the Land Hold Me / Watch Her Fall

Disc Two: Tomorrow is Goodbye / No Name and a New Dream / I Give Me Permission

These Blu-ray transfers show off the vivid landscapes and the vibrant colors. The episodes look simply stunning in HD. So this series is wonderful on Blu-ray. But where this Blu-ray release fails is in the bonus features. There is not one audio commentary, interview, or featurette.

Still, the first season of The Madison is not a bad series and the Blu-ray is good. It's just that it could have been better. If you love The Yellowstone franchise, The Madison Season 1 Blu-ray set would definitely be one for your collection. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
