There are some legends that are just meant for the silver screen. The legend of King Arthur and his remarkable sword Excalibur has been passed down through the generations. In 1981, Sir John Boorman brought the world one of the most imaginative and visually pleasing adventures ever seen on film.
Now, Arrow Video has restored and released this 80s classic fantasy adventure film on deluxe 4K/Blu-ray. Physical media fans will be able to relive the epic film in UltraHD over and over again.
Synopsis: Behold, the Sword of Power! Excalibur! Forged when the world was young, and bird and beast and flower were one with man and death was but a dream. Given by Merlin to Uther Pendragon to unite the land in peace but wasted on lust. Driven into stone by Uther's dying hand, there to await the coming of a true King. A journey into the wonders and horrors of the imagination, this is the story of Arthur, the knights of the round table, the golden age of Camelot, the quest for the Holy Grail and of course, the wizard, Merlin.
Excalibur not only has stunning visuals but also has a wonderful cast that includes Helen Mirren, Gabriel Byrne, Nicol Williamson, and Liam Neeson. John Boorman, the director who brought us Point Blank, Deliverance, and Zardoz, brings his director's eye for entertainment to this medieval tale that, once you watch, you never forget.
