Catch Me If You Can (2002) 4K Ultra HD Review – A Stylish Cat-and-Mouse Classic

Steven Spielberg has built a legacy of film that few directors could rival. His filmography is stellar to say the least. He has worked with many great actors, but two of his favorites seem to be Harrison Ford and Tom Hanks.

In 2002 he teamed up with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio for a crime thriller entitled Catch me If You Can. Now for the first time ever this film has come to 4K UltraHD/Blu-ray combo pack. Now physical media fans can own this biographical thriller in HD and UltraHD and relive the thrilling adventure over and over again.

Synopsis: Frank didn't go to flight school... Frank didn't go to medical school... Frank didn't go to law school... because Frank's still in high school! Inspired by the true story of a brilliant young master of deception and the FBI agent hot on his trail.

Catch Me If You Can is a well-crafted cat-and-mouse thriller based on a true-life account. Steven Spielberg blends suspense and humor perfectly to make an exciting fun entertaining little thriller. However, the film's run time is close to 2 and a half hours. For this reviewer it seemed a bit long. If could have benefited from a few less scenes and making the film run a bit faster. But regardless the film is still an entertaining piece of cinema.

Paramount Home Entertainment has transferred Catch Me If You Can to 4K in 2160p and Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format.
There are several audio tracks included on the 4K, an English and a French DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and an English audio description. There are also English and French subtitles. For the Blu-ray audio tracks there are English and a French DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Portuguese and Spanish tracks in Dolby Digital 5.1. Finally on the Blu-ray there are subtitles in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Catch me if You Can is presented in crystal clarity. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the audio is clean. There is no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. Watching this thriller in 4k is like watching it for the first time. But Paramount Home Entertainment didn't just bare bones a film on a disc. They made sure to port over some bonus features to this 2-disc set as well!

* Catch Me if you Can: Behind the Camera
* Cast Me if you can: The Casting the Film
* Scoring Catch me If You Can
* Frank Abagnale: Between Reality and Fiction
* The FBI Perspective
* Catch me If You Can: In Closing
* Photo Galleries

Now in addition to the above listed bonus features, Paramount has included a digital copy of the film that you can redeem and then have with you anywhere you have an internet connection. I always enjoy the idea of the digital copy. Although as we have all come to realize digital copies can be taken away at any time. So that is why the discs are the best way to own a movie.

If you enjoy a good biographical thriller, well Catch Me If You Can on 4K would make a nice little addition to you home video library. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today for yourself or a friend.
