Blu-ray Review: Splitsville (2025) - An Outragous Comedy of Marital Woes

Screwball comedies have been popular since the beginning of cinema. The truth is people like to laugh. Laughter is good for the soul. No matter how bad your day is going if you can escape in laughter even for a little time, your day will feel better.

Screwball comedies are still popular in this generation, and many writers and producers try to bring laughter to audiences in this generation. Sometimes they are good and sometimes no so good. In 2025 a new screwball comedy hit theaters entitled "Splitsville" now it is time for a Blu-ray release of this film.

Synopsis: Good-natured Carey (Kyle Marvin) runs to friends Julie (Dakota Johnson) and Paul (Michael Covino) after his wife Ashley (Adria Arjona) asks for a divorce. He’s shocked to learn the secret to their happiness is an open marriage.

The acting is pretty good. There is so much complexity with each performance. But the script is not as tight as it should be, and the pacing is defiantly uneven. There is no doubt some funny moments, but there are some misses as well!

This film is Rated R, so viewer be aware there is a lot of strong language, graphic sexual dialogue, scenes and nudity. As well as some fighting, car crashes and more. So just viewer beware.

Splitsville has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio tracks to choose from there is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and an English Audio Description DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also subtitles in English SDH, French and Spanish.

The Blu-ray transfer is a crisp and clean one and the audio is clear. There is no signs of compression issues. No digital artifacts or audio anomalies. Also included on this Blu-ray set is some nice bonus features. Take a look at what is included.

* The Making of Splitsville

* Guilt and Normal (Promo spots)

A making of featurette is nice, but it is a short one only around 7 minutes long. For me when I'm looking to add a Blu-ray to my collection, I enjoy a lot of bonus features. That is what sets Blu-rays apart from the streaming films. This Blu-ray is very skimpy on the bonus features. That is a shame.

If you enjoy outrageous off the wall crazy screwball comedies and don't mind the graphic nature of R rated films. Well, then Spiltsville might be right up your alley. Head over to Amazon and order your copy of Splitsville today!

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the Blu-ray of Splitsville receives.....
