Paramount+ has been bringing many original shows to their streaming series. And with the popularity of NCIS, they thought a great show to explore would be the origins of the NCIS!
When the announcement of NCIS: Origins show came it resulted in the cancellation of NCIS: Hawaiʻi. This led to many angered fans boycotting Origins. But it still was a success and after season one was renewed for season two.
Now as we are rapidly approaching the debut of season 2. Paramount Home Entertainment have released NCIS Origins Season One on DVD!
Synopsis: NCIS: ORIGINS begins in 1991, years prior to the events of NCIS and follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, narrated by Mark Harmon. In the series, Gibbs starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.
We have seen prequel series like Young Sheldon and Dexter Original Sin. Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North continued the trend with NCIS Origins. The show focuses on young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) who becomes a Special Agent at Camp Pendleton for the NIS.
The writing and direction are spot on! Austin Stowell does a great job. The additional cast is good in their roles as well! These include, Kyle Schmid, Tyla Abercrumbie, Caleb Foote and Diany Rodriguez. The show features great character development!
The NCIS Season 1 episodes have been transferred to DVD in widescreen format in 1.78: aspect ratio. The audio track is an English Dolby Digital 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
These episodes have been transferred to DVD. All 18 Season One episodes are spread across 4 DVD Discs. The first two disc have 5 episode each and the last two have 4 episodes each. The video quality of these episodes is really crisp and clean. The audio is clear. There are no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies.

The featurettes are great, but I always enjoy the gag reels. It is always so much fun to see these actors flub lines and goof around. The bonus features really enhance this release making it so much better!
So, if you are a fan of NCIS, you need to check out the prequel series NCIS Origins. The only downside I really can find is that I wished this would have seen a Blu-ray release.
