Manifest: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review – Is It Worth upgrading from the DVD in Your Collection?

When you think of supernatural TV dramas in history several stand out! The X Files, The Twilight Zone, Kolchak The Night Stalker, Stranger Things, Forever Knight just to name a few. In 2018 Jeff Rake (Executive Producer of Boston Legal) created a new supernatural drama entitled Manifest.

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment after releasing this series on DVD a few years ago. Have decided to give this series an upgrade release with the complete series of Manifest on Blu-ray. This will bring great joy to supernatural TV fans. Now they can relive this series time and time again for years to come.

Synopsis
: During a transoceanic journey, Montego Air Flight 828 disappears, presumed lost at sea. Five years later, the plane lands safely – but for those on board, only five hours have passed. Both a high-concept mystery and a relationship drama about interrupted lives, Manifest centers on the supernaturally fractured bonds between the survivors and their loved ones who’ve spent years moving on without them. As the government investigates what really happened on their flight, the survivors begin to ask themselves why it happened…and what it means. While the mystery of Flight 828 unfolds and these broken souls try to repair themselves and the world around them, the series follows their intersecting lives and connections as they search for an ultimate purpose that may be their destiny.

Manifest could easily have lost its way and collapse under its own initial story. But as they moved on to season two the character development got deeper, and we found more to the story for these people and thus we became more invested in their lives.

The shows were crafted so well, and the dialogue is great. The cast is good. Manifest really takes a page from the playbook of the show "Lost" and tries to explain a mystery in real time.

All 62 episodes are spread across 13 Blu-ray discs.

Season One:

Disc 1: "Pilot", "Reentry", "Turbulence", "Unclaimed Baggage", "Connecting Flights", "Off Radar"

These episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The episodes look crisp and clean and sound clear on Blu-ray. But the real downside here is the total and complete lack of bonus features. Warner Brothers released the complete series on DVD a few years ago and now the Blu-ray. In my humble opinion there should be a reason to want to upgrade other than just this is HD!

As for the packaging. This release leaves a lot to be desired. There is no episode guide, not even on the discs. The Blu-rays discs are housed in an Epik Pak tray that just sits inside the case. This isn't the only release that is housed like this. It seems to be the new way to go for box released.

Manifest was an entertaining series, but I feel this Blu-ray release needed a lot more than what it got here! Kind of disappointing! Really if you own the DVD set expect for the upgraded picture to HD. There is no real reason to upgrade!

If you love supernatural TV dramas and you don't own Manifest on DVD. This would be a nice purchase. 4 season 62 episode on one box set. That's a win. But just don't expect great bonuses. Because you're not going to find them. If you are interested, you can head over to Amazon and order your copy of Manifest today!

Out of 4 TV Sets (3 being the best) The Blu-ray of Manifest the Complete Series receives......
