In 1956 there was a film that changed sci-fi forever. That film was Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Then in the 1978 the sci-fi classic was remade featuring Donald Sutherland for another Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Thirty years after the terrifying Donald Sutherland Invasion film the film was remade yet again, but with different approach. This time it would be led by Nicole Kidman.
Now for the 18th anniversary of Invasion's theatrical release, Warner Brothers Home Entertainment has decided to release this film on Blu-ray.
Synopsis: While returning to Earth, the space shuttle explodes and the fragments bring an alien virus that recodes the human DNA. In Washington, the psychiatrist Carol Bennell observes the modification of the behavior of one of her clients first, then in her former husband and finally in the population in general. Together with her friend Dr. Ben Driscoll the researcher Dr. Stephen Galeano, they discover that the extraterrestrial epidemic affects human beings while sleeping and that her son Ollie, who had chickenpox when he was a baby, is immune to the disease and may save mankind from the outbreak.
Let's be honest here this film had huge shoes to fill. You don't get much more iconic than the original Body Snatchers and Donald Sutherland's terrifying remake. But Invasion wanted to be its own film, and it tries extremely hard to distance itself from its predecessors yet keep the story that will all know and love.
One thing that makes this film so unique is the female lead. In the previous two films it was a male lead. Here it is cool to see Nicole Kidman fighting against the invasion. A strong female long overdue.
The action is amazing Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig (James Bond) are great as well as the supporting cast. But somehow the terror just doesn't hit the same way as it did in the previous two films,
Warner Brothers Home Entertainment have transferred Invasion to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are audio options for English Dolby TruHD and a Dolby Digital 5.1. Fans of this film will be impressed with this HD transfer. But that is not all that is included here on this release. Warner Brothers added some great bonus features. Take a look at what is included.
