Infinite Santa 8000 (Synapse Films Blu-ray Review)

The holidays are for egg nog, hot chocolate, family and bloody terror, well at least it you are in the year 8000. What started as an animated web series turned into a full length post-apocalyptic heavy metal animated Christmas Classic entitled Infinite Santa 8000.and now thanks to the good folks at Synapse Films this film is coming home for the holidays on Blu-ray.

Synopsis: It is the year 8000. The world is gone. not much remains, except for the mutants, scum and robo-people. Humanity has been wiped out and everyone must kill to survive.... even Santa! When his beloved Martha is kidnapped by the evil Dr. Shackleton, Santa and his robotic reindeer head out into the post apocalyptic wasteland to rescue her. Bloody carnage ensues as Santa fights his way through hordes of mutant creatures including bat-sharks, kill-bots and even a giant Easter bunny to save Martha and carry on the Christmas spirit.

The animation is not something you would see with Pixar, this is more of a comic book come to life. You might have seen some of the motion comics, it is that kind of animation. The story is extremely unique. I would have never thought of this concept.

During the holidays our television sets are filled with animated adventures with the Peanuts gang, the Grinch, Frosty, Rudolph. These films are watched every year. Most of us could probably quote these films verbatim. Infinite Santa 8000 is not the cookie cutter holiday film it is defiantly different.

Infinite Santa has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. there is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This transfer of Infinite Santa 8000 to Blu-ray is really crisp. The picture is sharp and the colors pop off the screen. The driving metal soundtrack is clean and really rocks. This is one beautiful looking transfer. But that is not all that is included on this Blu-ray. Check out the bonus features included.

Special Features:
* Audio Commentary by creators Greg Ansin and Michael Neel
* The complete original 13-part web series (including audio commentary)
* Multiple interview featurette with cast and crew
* Original promotional trailers
* Two music videos

I love that Synapse Film have not only added a beautiful looking copy of the feature film on this Blu-ray, but also the original 13-part web series is included. This makes for an amazing disc for your holiday Blu-ray collection or your animation collection.
