Little Women (1994) 4k UltraHD Review

When the holiday arrive there is one thing most can agree upon, it's time for holiday films. Whether you love comedy, drama, romance or horror. There is something for everyone during the holidays.

Louisa May Alcott's novel Little Women has been made into feature films many time over the years. In 1994 Colombia Pictures assembled an all-star cast for another telling of this classic tale. Now for the 30th anniversary of this films release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released this film on 4k UltraHD, just in time for the Holidays.

Synopsis: With her husband off at war, Marmee (Susan Sarandon) is left alone to raise four daughters, her 'little women'. There is the spirited Jo (Winona Ryder), conservative Meg (Trini Alvarado), fragile Beth (Claire Danes) and romantic Amy (played at different ages by Kirsten Dunst and Samantha Mathis). As the years pass, the sisters share some of the most cherished and painful memories of self-discovery, as Marmeee and Aunt March (Mary Wickes) guide them through issues of independence, romance and virtue.

The Holiday spirt it on full display in this film. The film is a roller-coaster of tragedy, fun, life and death, tears and laughter. By the time you are done with this film you have experienced the full spectrum of emotion.

All of these ladies do tremendous jobs filling their roles. And I love that the producers hired Gillian Armstrong to direct this film. She brought a real feminine touch to this wonderful story.

Little Women has been transferred to 4K UltraHD in 216p and presented in Ultra High definition 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are options for English and French language in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 or DS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also a Spanish language track in Doubly surround sound. Finally, there is subtitles in English, French and Spanish.

This film has been released on DVD and Blu-ray before, but never on 4K. The film looks simply stunning in UltraHD. The picture is crisp and clean with no signs of damage to this print. There is no compression issues to digital artifacts. The colors are vibrant and the flesh tones are correct. The audio is clear as a bell with no audio anomalies. This is just a spectacular looking transfer of a new classic. But that is not all that is included on this 4K! There are some special bonus features, take a look!

Special features:
* Commentary by Director Gillian Armstrong
* Making of Featurette
* 2 Deleted Scenes with Commentary
* Costume and Design Featurette
* Theatrical Trailer
* Digital Copy of the film

This is a lot of cool bonuses. I love when a director does the audio commentary because it takes us into the mind of what the director was seeing in a specific scene. I also enjoy making of featurettes. Than there is the addition of a digital copy of the film. So you can add to your digital library or you can share this wonderful film with a friend or loved one. That is awesome!

If you love star-studded dramas or holiday films this new 30th Anniversary 4K of Little Women is defiantly a film you will want to have in your collection. Head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy today. You will not be disappointed.
