Trick 'r Treat (2007) Arrow Video 4K Review

Halloween is the perfect time for horror films. And some of the coolest horror movies are anthologies. Films like Tales of Terror, Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt and Cat's Eye just to name a few.

In 2007 Bryan Singer produced a film written and directed by Michael Dougherty. The film is entitled Trick 'r Treat and over the years this has become a cult classic. Now just in time for Halloween Arrow Video have restored this film in 4K and released in on deluxe 4K UltraHD set!

Synopsis: The film follows a demon with a burlap sack head and orange footie pajamas named Sam. On Halloween Night Sam stalks people that do bad or break with tradition.

In the film we follow the secretive and disturbing life of a high school principal (Dylan Baker) who leads a double life as a ruthless serial killer; the journey of a young girl (Anna Paquin) looking for love who finds something infinitely more macabre; a group of teenagers playing a prank with disastrous consequences; and an old man (Brian Cox) confronted by Sam, a mischievous trick-or-treater with a terrifying secret.

Most anthology movies are disjointed and not connected. Well, in Trick 'r Treat the stories are perfectly interwoven. They flow seamlessly from one tale to another telling one complete story yet all work on their own as well! Pretty awesome!

Now for the 17th anniversary of the film's release. Arrow Video has given this cult classic a 4K release!
Arrow Video has transferred Trick 'r Treat to 4K in HEVC 2160p (4K UHD) Dolby Vision encodement and presented in2.35:1 aspect ratio. The audio is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and LPCM 2.0 stereo mixes. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

I have yet to be disappointed with an Arrow Video restoration! and Trick 'r Treat does not disappoint here either. This new 4K restoration is crisp and clean with no signs of damage to the print. There are no digital artifacts, and the audio is clear with no hiss or pops. but a beautiful restoration is not all that is included in this new 4K release Arrow Video added some great bonus features as well!
