Well, now one of their first releases is upon us Terror Firma. Now you can enjoy this release in your home on Blu-ray or DVD thanks to Dark Arts Entertainment and MVD Visual.
Synopsis: Lola, a struggling artist is trapped. She is trapped in life, work, and now in her older brother, Lou's, house with his unbalanced roommate, Cage. When the city of Los Angeles shuts down for mysterious reasons, along with food and supplies, a packet of seeds shows up on their doorstep. When Lola plants the seeds it gives birth to an alien plant, and everything goes from strange to dangerous.
Terror Firma is the directorial debut of Jake MacPherson. The lockdown presented in this film is too reminiscent of the Covid pandemic that is still burned in our memories. There is something so terrifying about being locked-in. It is claustrophobic.
Terror Firma while not an H.P. Lovecraft story defiantly has a Lovecraft feel to it. The acting is pretty solid, the standout would have to be Faye Tamasa (Lola). The special effects are pretty good as well. Though the story is a bit thin, I would have like to have seen a bit more twists. There is some sexual content and pretty intense profanity, so if those things offend, it is something to look out for.
Now MVD Visual have transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080p. The film is presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The audio is an English Stereo. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. That is always a nice bonus feature.
This Blu-ray transfer is crisp and clean. There are no signs of digital artifacts. The colors are beautiful and the flesh tones are correct. The over 80 minute feature film looks very good in HD! But this is not a barebones Blu-ray release, no way. MVD added some very cool bonus features! Take a look at what is included.
* 95 Minute Director's Cut of Terror Firma
* Audio commentary by writer-director Jake Macpherson
* Behind-the-scenes photo gallery
* Theatrical trailer
I always love a good commentary and to have a commentary featuring the director, giving us insight into this his first feature film... amazing! But than to include a director's cut of the film. Take about going above and beyond here. For horror hounds this is going to be a Blu-ray they will want in their collections.
So, if you can get enough of horror and need a new fix, why not try this new release from Dark Arts Entertainment and MVD Visual "Terror Firma". I think this Blu-ray may just be able to scratch that horror itch. Head over to Amazon or MVDShop and order your copy of this new Blu-ray from Dark Arts Entertainment and MVD Visual.
