Powerpuff Girls The Complete Series DVD Review

In the beginning Cartoon Network was known as the home of the best cartoons ever. In 1998 animator Craig McCracken created the iconic Powerpuff Girls TV Series. Initially the series was produced by Hanna-Barbera and than later by Cartoon Network Studios for Cartoon Network.

Now almost 20 years after the series ended it's run on Cartoon Network Warner Brothers have released the entire TV Series on Deluxe DVD. This is sure to make Cartoon Network and superhero fans estatic.

Synopsis: In the city of Townsville, the frustrated Professor Utonium is gathering all the ingredients to make a perfect little girl (sugar, spice, and everything nice). But when his lab assistant, a monkey named Jojo, causes the accidental addition of Chemical X to the mix, the Professor ends up with not one but 3 perfect, powerful little girls. It soon becomes obvious that Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are not normal girls, they have superpowers and have not yet learned to control. The girls are treated like outcasts because they have inadvertently wrecked Townsville in a superpowered game of tag. To win the hearts of the people of Townsville, the girls are tricked into making a deal with Jojo who plans to take over Townsville. As the girls foil this threat and defeat an army of superpowered monkeys, the Powerpuff Girls learn that with great power comes great responsibility.

This show is so well written. The episodes are very clever with just the right hint of comedy. Now some might feel this is a kids show. And while you would be right in thinking that, this show will still appeal to adults. This show is known for it's unique animation style. The bold colors and amazing characters still hold up all these years later!

All 81 Powerpuff Girls episodes are collected on 12 DVD Discs. There are presented in their original full screen format. I am so thankful for that as I have seen releases where shows have been stretched to fit widescreen TVs. This in my humble opinion is unforgivable. This shows were made in full screen and shown in full screen, don't mess that up! I am glad Warner Brothers didn't mess that up!

The transfer of these episodes to DVD looks pretty impressive. The colors literally pop off the screen. There are no signs of damage to these episodes. There are no digital artifacts and the audio is as clear as a bell. But that is not all that is included in this massive Box Set! Take a look at the bonus features included!
