When you think of cult classic sci-fi films from the 1990s they didn't get much better or more iconic than that of Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward's film Tremors. I was stunned when Arrow Video gave Tremors a Blu-ray featuring a 4K scan.
The film was so popular that there was no doubt there would be a sequel. So, in 1996 Fred Ward returned for Tremors 2 Aftershocks. Now Arrow Video is releasing the exciting sequel Tremors 2 on 4K UltraHD.
Earl Bassett (Fred Ward)’s celebrity after defeating the Graboid attack against the town of Perfection has proved short-lived, until he’s recruited by a Mexican oil company whose workers have found more than they bargained for under the soil. With the help of a scientist (Helen Shaver) and a new sidekick (Christopher Gartin) – not to mention the return of his gun-toting survivalist pal Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) – Earl is about to learn the Graboids have evolved and are deadlier than ever!
The action in this sequel is just as much fun as the original film. Even though Kevin Bacon is absent from this film Christopher Gartin makes a good replacement. Fred Ward is still great in his role as Earl. It is also awesome to see Michael Gross, thought I do miss Reba McEntire.
Now just like the original film Tremors 2 has a lot of adult content in it! There are some nude pictures, a good chunk of profanity, although not as much as the first film. And there is a lot of scary images. So, parents be aware of this if you are thinking about showing this film to kids or teens.
Tremors 2 have been restored in 4K from the original negative by Arrow Films, approved by director S.S. Wilson. On the 4K disc it is transferred in 2160p. While the Blu-ray is presented in 1080p There are audio options for the original lossless 2.0 and 4.0 surround audio. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
But as we all know by now Arrow Video never stops at a great restoration. They always add soime great bonus features to their Blu-ray and 4K UltraHD releases. And Tremors 2: Aftershocks is no different. Take a look at what is included.
