Now Neon Eagle Video is releasing Godfrey Ho's 1987s Kill Butterfly Kill. The film features a 4k restoration. But not just that. It features not one not two but three versions of the film.
Years after being assaulted, a young woman (Juliet Chan) seeks bloody revenge on the five men responsible. She is aided by a retired hitman sympathetic to her plight ("Tattooer Ma" Sha) and a group of like-minded girlfriends. One by one, each of the creeps are caught in a trap and done away with, but her final quarry has a few tricks up his sleeve, leading to a violent climactic confrontation.
The action is campy and so much fun. In a world of women's empowerment, Kill Butterfly Kill was way before it's time. To see the strong female protagonist in the 1980s was rare, but awesome. Juliet Chan is so believable.
Kill Butterfly Kill has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p in 2.40:1 aspect ratio. It features a 4K Restoration from the negative. The audio is English 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Now it is good to note that this new 4k restoration is taken from the best surviving elements. Now to be honest there are some scenes that are rough. The quality suffers in areas quite a bit, but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the action.
