The Equalizer Season 3: DVD Review

The Equalizer Season 3 DVD Cover
Some shows are iconic! They are a part of television history. One such show was The Equalizer. I remember watching reruns of this show with my dad. I may not remember the episodes too well from my childhood, but I will never forget the theme music.

This show was adapted into a very successful film trilogy starring Denzel Washington. After that success was cemented, TV producers thought why not a reboot of the TV Show. Thus, a new Equalizer was born. A strong female Equalizer. This show has just finished its third season and now it's time for a physical media release on DVD.

Season 3 takes place in the aftermath of The Equalizer's abduction, the walls between Robyn McCall's family and vigilante life continue to crumble as those closest to her must come together for the first time to save her.

Queen Latifah started her career in the music industry and after much success found herself in TV and movies. She has built her brand well and to step into the large shoes of Robert McCall is quite the task, but she is up to the task.

Queen Latifah is extremely believable as the tough equalizer. She leads a pretty good cast of actors as well. Included in this series is Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Lorraine Toussaint and Chris Noth.

These episodes have been transferred to DVD in widescreen format. The audio is a Dolby Digital 5.1 and there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Understandable these episodes look and sound amazing on DVD. As they are shot in HD.

Disc 1: Boom / Where There's Smoke / Gaslight / One Percenters / Blowback

Disc 2: A Time to Kill / Paradise Lost / He Ain't Heavy / Second Chance / Do No Harm

Disc 3: Never Again / Lost and Found / Patriot Game / No Good Deed

Disc 4: No Way Out / Love Hurts / Justified / Eye for an Eye

In addition to all 18 episodes in amazing quality. There is bonus feature of a very funny gag reel. I always enjoy watching the gag reel. Getting to see how these dramatic episodes are brought to the screen and how these actors have so much fun in flubbing lines and messing up in so many different ways. But it would have been nice to see some additional bonus features. And audio commentary or two, some interviews. Bit that is a small complaint.

Okay so maybe Queen Latifah's Equalizer is not as great as Edward Woodward's original version. But that doesn't mean that this series is not without merit. I think it is a very exciting and entertaining little series and it is worth checking out!

So, if you love Queen Latifah's Equalizer, you more than likely already own season 1 and 2. So you know you need season 3. So, I don't need to hard sell this series. Head over to MovieZyng and order your copy today.
