Stargirl The Third and Final Season: DVD Review

Superhero films and TV shows were huge a few years ago. They still are big business, but at the time the market was flooded with comic book movies and TV series for years and years. As time has gone on While they are still immensely popular, we have seen TV series not lasting as long as they used to!

One such series was Stargirl. Now in the comics Courtney Elizabeth Whitmore, known as Stargirl, was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder. during he superhero career she has fought evil as a member of the Justice Society and Justice League.

Now CW Network has seen many DC superheroes come to life, including Green Arrow, The Flash, The Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Superman and Lois, Supergirl and Gotham Knight just to name some.

On May 18, 2020 Stargirl joined the ranks of the DC shows on CW Network, when the show premiered. It would go one to have 3 seasons. Now after releasing the first two seasons on Blu-ray it is time for the third and final season to get a home video release.

In this season, the heroes and villains living in Blue Valley become embroiled in a murder mystery after former ISA member Steven Sharpe is found dead, while someone has been spying on them with cameras placed all over town. It turns out that a reconstituted Icicle was responsible as he is in league with the JSA's old enemy Ultra-Humanite and Dragon King.

I love that Stargirl started doing a season long story arc. Including Chapters. When you watch this season it's like watching a film serial or reading a graphic novel. The acting is good, the action is great and the story is a nice one.

Warner Bros. has released this season on a 3 disc DVD set. The

Disc One: 1. Chapter One: "The Murder" / 2. Chapter Two: "The Suspects" / 3. Chapter Three: "The Blackmail" / 4. Chapter Four: "The Evidence" / 5. Chapter Five: "The Thief"

Disc Two: 6. Chapter Six: "The Betrayal" / 7. Chapter Seven: "Infinity Inc. Part One" / 8. Chapter Eight: "Infinity Inc. Part Two" / 9. Chapter Nine: "The Monsters"

Disc Three: 10. Chapter Ten: "The Killer" / 11. Chapter Eleven: The Haunting" / 12. Chapter Twelve: "The Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton" / 13. Chapter Thirteen: "The Reckoning"

The episodes have been transferred to DVD in widescreen format and in Dolby audio. The episodes look and sound tremendous on DVD. In addition to 13 season 3 episodes, there is the options for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. There is also two deleted scenes, "Stripesy's Pal, Sportscaster" and "Whatever Happened to....Eclipso?"

The first two seasons of Stargirl were released on DVD and Blu-ray, so you could have your choice. Now the final season has been released only on DVD. This is probably a cost cutting measure. I understand that, but there is a lot of frustration with fans over having season 1 Blu-ray, season 2 Blu-ray and season 3 DVD. There should have at least been the option for those that wanted all of these on Blu-ray to have that! But at least physical media fans can have the complete series even if it is not the perfect option.

If you love DC Comics TV series Stargirl is one series you need to see. And if you already watched and loved this series than you know you need Season 3. Head over to
