Warner Archive Blu-ray Review: Camille (1936)

There has always been a big demand for romantic films even back to the beginning of films. In 1936 Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor starred in the film Camille. The film is such a classic that it was included in Time Magazine's All-Time 100 Movies in 2005. It also scored the #33 spot in AFI's 100 Years...100 Passions.

Now Warner Archive is giving this romantic classic a chance to shine on Blu-ray. This new release features a new 4K scan and bonus features that will have classic film fans leaping for joy. Let's take a look at this new release.

Marguerite Gauthier (Greta Garbo) pulls herself up from poverty by becoming the enchanting "Lady of the Camellias," well-kept courtesan of the rich and influential Baron de Varville (Henry Daniell). When young Armand (Robert Taylor) falls in love with Marguerite, his sincere adoration causes her to question her comfortable life, and, despite the protests of Armand's scandal-wary father (Lionel Barrymore), she considers leaving the Baron for him.

If you are a fan of soap operas Camille is going to scratch that itch! The acting is very good! The story draws you right in for this ride. The film runs under 2 hours but moves gracefully as you don't even realize it!
