Reviewed by Jason LockardIn the 1990's a lot of cartoon shows based on video games were getting released. One such show was The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, based on the popular game franchise from SEGA.
Now the good folks at Invincible Pictures and MVD Visual. have packaged the entire series on one 6 disc DVD collection. Let's take a look at the show and what is included in this set.
The show follows Sonic the fastest thing alive and he just happens to be a hedgehog. He is on the run with his faithful sidekick Tails. Together they're racing to foil the evil plans of the despicable Dr. Robotnik. His plan is to robotize and enslave the population of Planet Mobius, Sonic's home planet.
This series lasted one season and had 65 episodes. It also had Jeleel White (Steve Urkel on Family Matters) as the voice of Sonic. Here is the list of episodes included on this 6 dic set.

Jaleel White does a tremendous job as the voice of Sonic. The voice has that Urkel child-like feel yet not in the nerdy way. The animation is typical DIC 90's animation. Nothing different tha\n what we have seen before. Which in my opinion is a good thing. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The stories are geared for a younger audience so there is a lot more slapstick type of comedy here.
As for the DVD transfer of these episodes look very good! Of course they are not going to look HD. This series was made by DIC Entertainment on the cheap in hopes to make a profit. These episode are presented in their original full screen format 1.33:1 aspect ratio and in Stereo 2.0 audio. There is also English subtitles included, a very cool feature for the deaf and hard of hearing.
