Marco Polo (2007) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason S. Lockard

I have been a sucker for biographical films all my life! Whether it's films about sports stars, political figures, actors or historical characters. I love to see the life of people played out in movie format! So Mill Creek Entertainment's Blu-ray release of Marco Polo is right up my alley!

This miniseries follows Venetian explorer Marco Polo's arduous trek to the East and beyond. He is sent on a mission to accompany two priests to china with the goal of converting Kublai Khan (Brian Dennehy) and his court to Christianity, Marco Polo (Ian Somerhalder) finds himself left to carry on alone when the priests turn back. But Polo pushes on till he reaches the court of Kublai Khan where along with his servant, Pedro (BD Wong) he is accepted and lives for many years despite clear danger. After two decades Polo returns to the West with a chronicle of his experiences.

The visuals in this mini series event are absolutely stunning! The actors put everything they have into the roles. Now the script is not a true account it is based on Marco Polo. There is a lot of creative license in this miniseries, but it still is an enjoyable movie to watch.

Now for the Blu-ray itself! The two parts are presented in stunning HD quality and the audio is crystal clear. There are no bonus feature, but you getting a very enjoyable almost 3 hour movie event!

So if your a fan of Marco Polo, historical dramas or Asian culture films this is defiantly a must own! Just release this is not completely historically accurate! Head over to MillCreekEnt.com and pick up your copy today!
