The Humanity Bureau (2017) DVD Review

Nicolas Cage was once a Oscar winning, Hollywood heavyweight. But after "over investing" according to him, he started taking any and every script offered to him to get out of financial trouble. They is why we see so many crummy Cage films.

He has been churning out films like butter. We have seen him in every kind of genre of films, with movies like The Old Way, Pig, Color out of Space, Prisoners of Ghostland, Left Behind and Renfield.

Well, here is another Cage film coming to DVD. It is the 2017 Sci-fi/Thriller entitled The Humanity Bureau. Now we can own this Nicolas Cage thriller on DVD thanks to Echo Bridge home entertainment.

Synopsis: A dystopian thriller set in the year 2030 that sees the world in a permanent state of economic recession and facing serious environmental problems as a result of global warming.

A government agency called the Humanity Bureau exiles members of society deemed unproductive, and banishes them to a colony known as New Eden. Caseworker Noah Kross investigates a case appealed by a single mother and her son. But he maybe a little closer to this situation than anyone thinks.

I have watched a lot of Nicolas Cage films most of which leave a lot to be desired. And while The Humanity Bureau is not his best film it is far from the worst I have seen. In fact this film has an extremely interesting storyline. In fact it feels like something that truly could happen in the very near future. Which is scary to think about!

Nicolas Cage really doesn't take himself to seriously in his films. He has almost become a parody of himself. But here I enjoyed his performance as Noah Kross. This is probably my favorite performance of Nicholas Cage. At least of the low budget films he has been doing. But let's be honest this still is a less than stellar film.

Echo Bridge has been transferred this film to Made-On-Demand DVD in widescreen format and presented in 2.40:1 aspect ratio. The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1. There is the option for Spanish subtitles. I wished we could have had English subtitles as well.

The film transfer is a beautiful one. The picture is crisp and clean and the audio is clear and there is no signs of damage or digital artifacts. But a nice copy of the film is not all that is included on this DVD. In addition to this film this DVD has the 14 minute behind the scenes featurette.

The other problem I saw with this release is this is a Made-On-Demand disc and not a pressed disc. Pressed discs are more durable and have a longer life expectancy. Burned disc have a shorter life expectancy. But if you store your burned disc properly, they should last a very long time.

While The Humanity Bureau is not a great sci-fi film it is entertaining and it feels eerily real. I think this is a film we can study and fight to make sure this doesn't happen. If you like dystopian future films like Soylent Green, Blade Runner, The Running Man, The Planet of the Apes, Escape from New York or The Matrix. You may find a lot of enjoyment in The Humanity Bureau.

If you those low budget Nicolas Cage films are ones your like why not check out The Humanity Bureau. If you would like to own a physical copy of this film pick up a DVD at Moviezyng.com today.
