Getting Even with Dad

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

When you hear the name Macaulay Culkin you probably think, "Oh that's Kevin McCallister from that movie Home Alone!" But he was much more than just a two film wonder. In the 90s a
t the height of his fame, he was considered the most successful child actor since Shirley Temple! That is some legendary company to be keeping!

In 2018 MVD Visual started a new brand of their company 'MVD Marquee collection'! Releasing some of the harder to find titles on Blu-ray! The next one on the "Marquee" Macaulay Culkin in "Getting Even With Dad".

The film follows a
con man Ray Gleason (Ted Danson) as he and his partners go after one last heist -- a stash of rare coins. All is going according to plan that is until Timmy (Macaulay Culkin) Ray's estranged son shows up. Ray is so busy with the upcoming robbery to spend time with Timmy so when the con men successful in their cash grab all seems well! Than Timmy hatches a plan of his own heist the coin and hide them and only give them back id Ray acts like a father to him, taking him to amusement parks and baseball games. All the while, Detective Theresa Walsh is closing in on Ray.

This is a really well written story. Ted Danson is great and Macaulay Culkin is at his best in this role. This is a very fun film, but in this reviewers opinion it is not a family comedy! This is more for teens and adults as there is some suggestive content and some profanity!

As for the blu-ray release you get the film in Widescreen 1.85:1 format. The audio is 2.0 Stereo Surround in English, Spanish and French. There is also Subtitles in Englsh SDH, Spanish and French. The transfer to blu-ray looks and sounds amazing! Now for the bonus features; There is a lot of cool extras, there is a "making of" featurette, Music montage featurette, Original Theatrical trailer and Home video teaser trailer.

I really enjoy reliving the 90s and this film is a very cool snapshot into the 90s. The reason to buy this Blu-ray is the HD copy of the film, but the bonus features are a real plus.

So If your a fan of Macaulay Culkin, Ted Danson or 90s films this Blu-ray is a must add to your collection. I highly recommend this one, just not for the young ones! Head over to MVDshop.com and pick up your copy today.
